Wholesale Category Analyst

Job Summary and Mission

The United Dairy Farmers Category Analyst will work out of our corporate headquarters, located in Cincinnati Ohio.  The CA contributes to the overall success of the company’s ice cream brands by collaborating with sales to deliver key business goals. This position is accountable for driving United Dairy Farmers sales, share and equity by contributing to our customers category strategies and growth i.e. Kroger, Walmart, Meijer and independent retailers.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Possesses strong communication skills and is comfortable interfacing with sales, brand development, marketing and finance
  • Analyze Sales and Performance
    • Track and monitor promoted and non-promoted product performance, by market and customer
    • Providing ongoing pre & post promotional analysis using syndicated date (IRI/Nielsen) and retailer specific POS data i.e. Kroger Market6, Walmart Retail Link and Meijer VendorNet
  • Utilizing UDF shipment,  retailer POS and syndicated data to:
    • Assess & recommend sku optimization/rationalization by total brand portfolio
    • Provide key input during internal new & current item reviews
    • Develops and produces weekly reports and scorecards, identifying strategic business opportunities
    • Identifying category trends and business opportunities and recommending solutions that benefit both UDF and our retail customers
  • Collaborates & supports with account business managers in:
    • Trade planning/promotion process & development
    • New item set-up and development
    • Developing annual category reviews with supporting key insights and trends specific to the customer
  • Provides analytical insights to deliver greater share of promotion, distribution and shelving
  • Leverages analytical tools (including customer-specific tools and data) to develop new commodity and category insights through the analysis of SMART initiatives (shelving, merchandising, assortment, retail pricing, trade spending)




Summary of Experience:  +2 years in the CPG industry

  • =/> 2 years of experience working in category development or analyst roles in traditional CPG companies
  • =/> 2 years of experience working with retailer specific systems and data (1WorldSync, Kroger Market6, V.I.P. & 84.51, Walmart Retail Link, Meijer VendorNet)
  • =/> 2 years of experience working with Nielsen and/or IRI and shelf software data (ProSpace preferred)
  • Proficient to advanced knowledge of:
    • Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
    • Retailer specific POS & Loyalty systems (Kroger Market6 & 84.51, Walmart Retail Link and Meijer VendorNet)
    • Syndicated data (IRI/Nielsen)
